December 2020 Book Review & Monthly Book Club

Hey there! Happy book review day!! Today is Ella and I’s very first monthly book club link-up! We picked out two books for everyone to read for December, and now we are sharing what we read! You can link-up HERE! Don’t forget to grab our graphic too!

Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I thought this book was great!! It is three different stories that all connect to each other, but are all about different characters. It was a very fun holiday read! I loved the characters, and how all three stories connected at the end! It was super, super sweet, and was very cute!

Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was also was one of our book club books. It was probably more of a three and a half rating. This book was super cute, and I loved the way Dash & Lily were brought together! This first one wasn’t too Christmasy, but you could tell it was meant to read during the holidays. It was pretty enjoyable!

The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After I read the first Dash & Lily book for our book club, I decided to finish the rest of the series, and I’m very glad I did! I really liked this book better than the first one!! It was even cuter and sweeter than the first one as well.

Mind the Gap, Dash & Lily by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was probably my least favorite of the series. It takes place in London, and the plot just got stretched a little too thin. It’s still sweet and cute, but it just felt a little dragged on. It is still worth the read, so don’t miss out on it!!

My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories by Holly Black, Ally Carter, Matt De La Pena, Gayle Forman, Jenny Han, David Levithan, Kelly Link, Myra McEntire, Stephanie Perkins, Rainbow Rowell, Laini Taylor, and Kiersten White
⭐️⭐️⭐️
If I could put half-stars, this would be a two and a half. This book was a compilation of twelve-holiday stories. Some of which were cute, the others were not. Half of the stories were just badly written, and hard to follow. I also had a hard time readjusting to each new story, because none of them were connected. The stories I liked were so sweet, and ended so abruptly, followed by a story I hated. I would say I only liked five or so of the stories. The ones I liked were great holiday reads, so this book is worth it for those. Not my favorite read though.

The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I LOVED THIS BOOK!! I could read it one hundred times in a row, and not get tired!! I loved the plot, I loved the characters, I loved the twists, I loved the cheesiness, and I loved all of the drama!
The book is about Kate Turner who is signing up for the “Twelve Dates of Christmas” event! It was a little bit obvious who Kate would end up with, but I didn’t mind it! There was a HUGE plot twist towards the end that had me so surprised! I think I screamed when I read it, this tells you how into the book I was. I loved the “mess-up” dates! They were so funny! The gingerbread making one was probably my favorite! ;)
I also loved the rhyming names of each of the chapters, it just added to the effect the book gave! Y’all, I could go on forever about how much I loved this book! So cute! If you are looking for the sweetest holiday read ever, you have to read this!

One Day in December by Josie Silver
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is so highly rated and had such great reviews, so I read it. It was not my favorite. It was a little hard to get through, and I felt that it was missing the sweet cheesy moments I was looking for. Yes, the whole “love at first sight at the bus stop” was cute, but it was too all over the place. It wasn’t bad, just not that good.

Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe by Melissa de la Cruz
⭐️⭐️⭐️
To be honest, I didn’t actually remember much of this book. It was a really quick read, and it just didn’t really stand out to me. It was sweet, but very predictable and didn’t hold my attention. Not my favorite.

The Chaos of Standing Still by Jessica Brody
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of the best books out there. I just loved the setting, the characters, and plot, the sadness and grief, and all of the sweet moments!! It was hard to get through at some parts just because it was so sad. The story of the friendship that was lost was so sweet and sad. I cried multiple times. I loved the way that the two characters fell in love. It was a New Year’s Eve story, but it wasn’t too holiday-ish (is that even a word)? This book was so sweet! It was sad in all of the right places, but happy and sweet too! The message of the book was super sweet. I can’t even imagine what the main character (Ryn) has gone through, and it was super eye- opening. It’s a must-read!
The book is about Ryn who is stuck in an airport on New Year’s Eve. She is dreading New Year’s Day, 10:05 AM, because it will mark one year since the day her best friend left this world. Ryn is so upset to have to go through this at an airport, but through this, she ends up falling in love. You have to read this!

Looking for Lovely - Teen Girls’ Bible Study Book by Annie F. Downs
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My friends and I did this Bible study over the last couple of weeks, and I really enjoyed it! It had a very powerful message, and I loved all of the verses in the book.

Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really liked this book! It was really cute and sweet, but it wasn’t cheesy. I didn’t know this was the second book in the series, but it turned out fine anyway! I had a hard time getting into it, but I really liked it once I did get into it. The point of Lana being there was to help catch this Santa Moose, but it kind of strayed from it, which I was fine with. It was a super cute read!

In A Holidaze by Christina Lauren
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was great! It was so fun to read, and I loved it! I was VERY surprised by this book. I had NO IDEA there would be time travel and repeating days! Evidently, I hadn’t really read the summary of the book before reading! ;) It was very exciting and super sweet! I loved that she had to redo certain days until she was happy! Super cute, and a holiday must-read!!

Skipping Christmas by John Grisham
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this book! It was entertaining, and a super funny read! It was a quick read, but I loved every second I was reading it! Very enjoyable!

The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was actually the first book in the Moose Springs, Alaska series. I really liked it! I obviously knew what would happen in the end seeing as I had already read the second book, but I liked it plenty! It was really sweet and super funny! This book was not a holiday book, well it was the Fourth of July, but I still loved that it was set in a holiday place! Guys, read this before you read Mistletoe and Mr. Right, it would probably help lots!

I have been reading some books about Norwegian pioneers who settled the Dakota Territory in the mid-1800's and I am so fascinated by the lifestyle of these amazing people who settled that wild frontier. I will be sharing a post soon with the books I have read recently as well as the shows and movies I have watched. I really enjoyed reading your book list! Thanks for sharing and linking with me. Wishing you all the best in the new year!

Tuesday Talk - A Day In The Life

Hey friends!! Happy Tuesday! Can we just take a step back for a moment and recognize that it is already January the 19th!!?? It has been 19 days into this New Year, and I feel like it all happened in the blink of an eye. It went by so fast. Today is the third Tuesday of the month, so that means it's time for . . . TUESDAY TALK!! Today I will be talking about how my day goes, meaning I will be sharing A Day In The Life! Day In The Life posts are some of my all-time favorite posts to read, so I am super excited to share this one with you! Linking up with Erika and Ashley ! Friday morning I woke up at 5:04 AM, my alarm did not go off, but luckily I roused close to my normal time! Then I checked my sleep app to see how much sleep I got.  After checking that, I laid in bed and read for 10 minutes. This is my favorite way to wake up and quietly prepare myself for the day! Then I got out of bed and went to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast! I made myself some hot tea, and because
