October Book Review

Happy Tuesday!! I am so so sorry for not blogging the rest of the week. Last week was super busy! I had volleyball open gym every night, band, a football game I had to perform at, and club volleyball try-outs on Saturday! I have some really good news to announce! I made 13-1’s team at CCJ! I am so looking forward to next season and I can’t wait to share it with you guys! Now, I am catching up with my blogging and sharing my October Book Review!! October was also kind of a busy month, and I started REALLY strong with my reading and then I kind of sputtered out! I hope you enjoy this post!

The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart
This book was a recommendation from a reader of this blog! I had not gotten around to reading it, but I was so glad I did! This book was more of a happy and not so dark book compared to previous books! It was about a girl and her dad who live in a school bus and travel around the country. Coyote finds out that a park she used to go to with her family is going to be destroyed she decides she has to go back to retrieve the memories of her deceased mother and sisters. This book was very sweet, and although it was bitter sweet it had a great ending and I loved it! I am so glad I read this book!

The Betrothed by Kiera Cass
I really liked this book even though most people didn’t! The reviews on this book were far from great, but I liked it anyways. Even my best friend Ella read it and didn’t like it! Okay, yes the story line was a little predictable (I knew what was happening from about a quarter of the way in). This book, although was predictable, was still a good read! It was a good romance book, and I liked it! The end was where the real shock happened! The ending had me crying and wondering why I was reading this! Spoiler Alert: Something sad happens. It was a good read, but it was not my favorite of Kiera Cass’s books.

The Siren by Kiera Cass
I LOVED this book! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book! I had wanted to read this book for a while, but I did not want to buy it on Apple Books. Once I found this website that has a LOT of free books, I read it! Per all of Kiera Cass’s books, I immediately fell in love with this book! The book is about this group of Sirens that have to be sirens for 100 years. Once a year they have to sink a ship, and they sometimes they save a young women and give her the choice to die or become a siren. Kahlen was the main siren of the story, and she falls in love with a boy even though it would never work out. This book was great, and unlike The Betrothed it wasn’t super predictable! I loved it!! It might have been one of my favorite reads of the month!

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
This book was moving. Easily a life long favorite, and is tied at the top with The Help and Just Mercy. I really enjoyed this book, it made me cry. A lot. To Kill A Mockingbird is about a court case in Alabama about a black man accused of rape against a white lady. He was wrongly accused, and Atticus Finch is in charge of defending him. The book is told through the eyes of Scout, Atticus’ daughter. This book really was eye-opening about the racism that had a firm grasp in Alabama, and all throughout the South. It was a great read, and I recommend it to everyone!

The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor
This book was okay. It was mediocre, and kind of so-so. It would have a been a great book, had it not been for school. I feel like reading books for school, blatantly ruins them. It was an okay book, but NOT my favorite by far.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol
Alice in Wonderland is a classic. Had it not been, I probably never would have read it. All of the classic were free on Apple Books, so I decided to read it. It was okay, and it wasn’t too bad. Not my favorite either.

Okay, that is my book review!! I hope you enjoyed reading!! Sometime this week I will be posting my October Month in Review, and Friday Favorites!! Have a great day, and the rest of the week!
-Abby

Let’s Look - Coffee Area!

Hey there! Happy Wednesday!! I am so excited that it is the first Let’s Look of the year! Today we are taking a look into my coffee area!! Linking up with Shay and Erika !  To be honest, I don't drink coffee on a daily basis! Don't get me wrong, I love coffee, and I would drink it every day, but I just drink tea instead! I love hot tea a tiny bit more than coffee! So yeah, I love coffee, but I don't need it every day. Before we get into it, check out my posts from earlier this week! Monday I shared a Christmas 2020 Recap , and Tuesday I shared my Makeup Haul ! Let’s get into it! This is one coffee maker! We have the Keurig, and the water Hamilton Beach water boiler! We got out Keurig a couple of years ago from Costco, and I fell in love immediately! You can make five different cup sizes, and it makes iced coffee as well!  Since I don't do much of the coffee drinking around my house, here is the coffee that my parents use! As for me, I drink Twining’s English Breakfast

We connected with the West Tennessee Border Collie Rescue, and they found a male puppy in Prattville, which is so close to us. At first, we weren't sure if he was available for adoption or even fostering. It turns out he was! On Saturday, Mom picked up him from the shelter, and when I got home from

Friday Favorites - It’s 2021!!

Hey friends!! Happy 2021! I am still amazed that we left 2020 behind, and are now experiencing 2021!! What a year 2020 was, and I am hoping 2021 can be at least a little bit better. Today I am sharing a huge haul of favorites from my Christmas Break, Christmas Eve and Day, New Year’s, and recent thing too!  As usual, I am linking up  with  Erika  and  Andrea , and Shelbee Before I get into this post, I would like to slow down and talk about some of the things happening in America right now. On Wednesday, led by the president, there was an insurrection, people broke into the US Capitol, and people died. This is wrong on so many levels, but this goes even deeper. Back in the Summer, people supporting Black Lives Matter were peacefully protesting and were tear-gassed so that our president could pose for a couple of photos. The people who were rioting outside of the capitol, and eventually some broke in, were not tear-gassed away, and they were breaking into the Capitol. People were shot
